Beach VB Sweeps in Tavares

Tavares, Fla - The SCF beach volleyball team (4-0, 4-0 Region 8) kept their fighting ways as they shutout Florida State College at Jacksonville (0-4, 0-4 Region 8) 5-0 before defeating Lake Sumter State (3-3, 2-2 Region 8) 4-1 at Hickory Point Beach in Tavares.

SCF vs FSCJ:

Sophomore Caelan Cook and freshman Katrina Tallo would the #5 pair by forfeit to take the lead. Sophomore Bailee Perry and freshman Morgan McGuire would defeat sophomore Carlie Vining and freshman Abigail Bucci 21-10, 21-9 at the #4 pair before the freshmen duo of Aleksandra Wrobel and Addison Beaver would sweep sophomore Haley Wojnaroski and freshman Breanna Brown 21-6, 21-5 at the #3 pair to get the overall win.

 
Play would resume as sophomore Amanda Goudinho Pizzol and freshman Teresa Briefeneder defeated sophomore Marisa Hauser and freshman Martina Soler Marti 13-21, 21-15, 15-9 in three sets at the #2 pait before redshirt freshman Rhea Kohl and sophomore Kayla Gentry would sweep sophomore Elaina Reynolds and freshman Hana Roberts with a 21-6 pair decision at the #1 pair.
 
Following SCF's win, Lake Sumter State swept Florida State College at Jacksonville 5-0.
 
 
SCF vs Lake Sumter State:
In the second set of matches, Cook and Tallo defeated sophomore Allie Cox and freshman Rylee Martineau 21-13, 21-18 at the #5 pair. Perry and McGuire would follow with 21-18, 17-21, 15-7 win over sophomores Berklee Andrews and Jayden Ponsford at the #4 pair before Wrobel and Beaver defeated sophomore Cassidy Rountree and freshman Kai Register 21-17, 21-13 at the #3 pair to complete the sweep.
 
In the final two matches, Kohl and Gentry would defeat sophomore Mazi Watson and freshman Braelyn Mittauer 21-15, 21-14 at the #2 pair before the Lakehawks earned their lone point as Gaudinho Pizzol and Briefeneder fell to sophomores Kaylee Hunt and Leanne Blue by a score of 17-21, 20-22 at the #1 pair.

The Manatees will continue on the road as they travel to Saint Leo for their next pair of matches. They will face host St. Leo (2-0) before taking on conference rival Palm Beach State (3-1, 2-0 Region 8) at the Saint Leo Beach Volleyball Courts Saturday, February 24 at 10 am and 12 pm.
