Danny Whitaker joined the State College of Florida as an assistant coach during the 2017-2018 season. He specializes in player development and defensive strategies.

Prior to joining SCF’s coaching staff, Whitaker served as Head Coach for University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s Junior Varsity Team. While Whitaker was at the helm at UNC-Pembroke, the team won Regional and States in 2016 and 12 tournaments.

While attending college at UNC-Pembroke, he began his coaching career as a Coach at Southeastern Academy in Lumberton, NC. During this time, he led the boys’ team to 3 Middle School Championships and the girls’ team to 1 Middle School Championship.

As a player, Whitaker played two years semi-professionally. During this time, he earned Defensive MVP honors.

Whitaker also spends time as a basketball trainer, training young players on the fundamental skills needed to be successful at basketball.

When not coaching, Whitaker teaches for the School District of Manatee County, where he utilizes his coaching and playing experience to help teach successfully.
