Manatees Win Preview of First Game of Suncoast Conference Tournament

Bradenton, Fla - The Manatees wrapped up the regular season with a victory against Suncoast Conference foe, Hillsborough Community College.  The victory was the first Suncoast Conference win for the Manatees, whose record is now 9-21.

State College of Florida overcame a 12 point halftime deficit and captured a 2 point lead with just seconds remaining in regulation.  The Hawks of Hillsborough tied the game to force overtime.  The Manatees outlasted the Hawks wining the game in overtime by a score of 70-67.

Josh Floyd lead all scorers with 30 points. Floyd accounted for half of the points scored by the Manatees in the overtime period.  He was joined in double figure scoring by Deojunique Flippin with 14 points.  Flippin posted 10 rebounds as he earned a double-double.  Freshman center, Kingsley Nwagboso, grabbed 11 rebounds. 

The same two teams will meet again on Saturday, February 21st, in the first round of the Suncoast Conference Tournament.  Tip off is scheduled for 4:00 pm on the HCC-Dale Mabry campus.
