March 13 Coronavirus-COVID-19 SCF Athletics Update

 

FCSAA Suspends Athletic Competitions. The governing association of intercollegiate athletics in Florida announced Thursday, March 12, 2020 that a temporary suspension of the athletic seasons would be implemented due to Coronavirus-COVID-19.  In a statement released on its Facebook page, the FCSAA stated, "With the support of our athletics leadership and our Florida College System Council of Presidents, the FCSAA / NJCAA Region 8 is suspending all athletics competition beginning Friday, March 13 through Saturday, March 28. We will reevaluate at that time."

 

What does this mean for SCF Manatees?

 

SCF Beach Volleyball will miss two dates of play, four matches in total; beginning with Saturday’s home match against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. SCF Tennis will miss three matches. Manatees Baseball will miss nine Suncoast Conference games beginning with the March 13 home game against St. Petersburg College.  The Manatees Softball team was scheduled to begin conference play on Tuesday, March 17 and will miss ten games, which is the entirety of the first round of conference play.

 

Suncoast Conference officials are considering plans to modify the existing schedule and/or reschedule games missed due to the suspension of play.  All changes will be reflected on the schedule page of SCFManatees.com.
